The ratio of 14C to 12C in the atmosphere was different in the past and is changing even today. 3 Evolutionists assume the ratio was more or less consistent in the past, which gives them wrong dates.
Actually, taking evolutionary assumptions, carbon dating is more of a problem for evolution.

- Palmer, 2011, p. 19: “[Radiocarbon dating] relies on the decay of radioactive carbon-14 (14C) — an ‘isotope’ of carbon that occurs in a small but constant proportion in Earth’s atmosphere. This isotope is absorbed by living organisms such as plants and animals and incorporated into their bodies. After the organism dies, however, its 14C decays.” ↩
- Cotner and Moore, 2011, p. 29: “Carbon is part of all living organisms. Most carbon in Earth’s atmosphere is C-12, which is not radioactive. However, approximately one-in-a-trillion carbon atoms in the atmosphere are radioactive C-14, which form when cosmic rays hit nitrogen atoms. Organisms do not distinguish C-14 from C-12, so when they eat (e.g., animals) or photosynthesize (e.g., plants), they incorporate C-14 into their bodies. This means that as you read this, your body–as well as those of all other living organisms on Earth–contains the same proportion of C-14 as does the atmosphere. … when organisms die, they stop incorporated carbon into their bodies because they are no longer eating food or absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere for photosynthesis. This ‘zeroes’ their carbon clock because, at that point, the porpoortion of C-14 begins to decline due to radiometric decay.” ↩
